"I Can't Change My Mindset"
Bullshit, Yes You Can and You Can Start Today
It’s crazy that we’re already coming up on the end of another year.
They go by fast, and they seem to go by faster the older you get.
With the conclusion of Thanksgiving the other day, I want to take a minute and touch on gratitude.
You don’t have to look hard to find something wrong or something to complain about.
Turn on the news and you’ll see something negative; you probably hear people complain all the time at work (I know I do), and it’s easy for your mind to start going there.
We’re under constant attack from negative thoughts and negative events.
If we get caught up in the negativity around us, that’s all we start to see, the negative in everything.

When I had a negative mindset for many, many years, it was easy.
I could always find something happening around me, or something that happened to me to validate my negative feelings.
A negative mindset will keep you miserable and in a victim mindset.
Choosing (yes, I used the word choosing) a negative mindset is the path of least resistance.
It’s a choice. I know this may be hard for you to hear, but it’s a choice.
I made the decision to choose a negative mindset for many years, and now I make the decision to choose a positive mindset.
I know you’re probably thinking, “You don’t know what I’ve been through.”
I’m not here to have a pissing contest, but I suffered sexual abuse and finally realized it was a decision and I’m trying to save you the bullshit I went through.
With most things in life, when you choose the path of least resistance or the easy path, you get subpar results.
I don’t know about you, but all of my big wins in life have come at the expense of discomfort and challenge.

The more discomfort, the bigger the challenge, the bigger the success.
This goes for your mindset as well.
You can take the path of least resistance, the negative mindset, but you’re going to get a negative, miserable life as well.
On the other hand, you have the positive mindset.
A positive mindset doesn’t just happen.
If you’re in a place like I was for so many years, a positive mindset seems like the last thing you can achieve.
A positive mindset seems impossible.
I remember when I was at my worst, I couldn’t stand a person with a positive attitude.
I thought to myself, “What the fu*k do you have to be so happy about?”
I thought there must be something wrong with them to be that happy or that positive.
It’s sad, but these were my thoughts.
I’m going to say it again, IT’S A CHOICE.
This choice is made a little bit each day, not all at once.
You don’t go from being a negative person to a positive person in one day.
You don’t go from having a negative mindset for 10 years to a positive mindset in one week.
It’s not going to feel comfortable.
It’s not going to feel natural.
This is something you must understand.
Your expectations matter.
Expect it to take longer than you think and expect it to be harder to change than you think.
It’s going to feel very foreign when you make the decision to change your mindset.
When it feels this way, this is how you know you’re on the right path.

Again, nothing worth doing is going to be easy or feel comfortable.
I’m going to repeat that, nothing worth doing is going to be easy or feel comfortable.
All of your success, the life you truly want, all of your dreams, are going to require you to do things you haven’t done before.
They are going to require you to get outside of your comfort zone and start living life the way it was meant to be lived.
I’m telling you right now, if I can do this, I know you can too.
Stop telling yourself you can’t do it and start focusing on doing one thing different today.
Start with writing down three things you’re thankful for every morning and every evening.
Do this for a month every day and see what starts to happen.
Again, it’s not about taking big leaps forward, it’s about small changes done consistently that are going to slowly change your mindset.
This is a big deal to me.
When I tell you I thought I would never have a positive mindset, it’s an understatement.
I laugh now when I look back and thank God every day that I finally woke up and decided to do something about it.
I promise, you can have this as well.
It’s time to say “fu*k it,” and start getting after it!
Stay positive and take action!
