Saturday Morning Mindset: Don't Let Your Feelings Dictate the Day

Survivor to Thriver Coaching, LLC

It’s easy to have a great day when you’re feeling good.
When you wake up energized and everything goes your way, it doesn’t take much effort to stay positive.

But what about the days that don’t start off on the right foot?
What about the days where you hit a challenge, or challenge after challenge?

Those days matter the most.

You Always Have a Choice

When things go wrong, you can:

  • Stick your head in the sand

  • Give up on the day

  • Decide it won’t get better

Or you can choose to see these moments as opportunities:

  • Opportunities for growth

  • Opportunities to turn the day around

  • Opportunities to work on your mindset

This work isn’t easy.
It takes time, repetition, and patience, but it’s worth it.

A Tough Start Doesn’t Mean a Bad Day

This is crucial on your healing journey.
Healing is full of ups and downs. You will:

  • Have bad days

  • Slip into old behaviors

  • Feel off

  • Fight through setbacks

But you can break the belief that “a bad morning = a bad day.”

This is where compassionate self-talk becomes a powerful tool.
Talk yourself through it:

“Take a deep breath. Work through this. You can do this.
This is an opportunity to grow.”

It will feel unfamiliar at first, especially if you’ve spent years speaking to yourself harshly.

Challenging the Trauma-Created Lies

I struggled with this too.
My attitude toward myself was negative, and I didn’t even realize how bad it was.
I felt stuck.

We get unstuck by pushing back, little by little, and refusing to settle for the lies trauma taught us:

  • “You’re not good enough.”

  • “Who do you think you are?”

  • “You’re never going to heal.”

  • “This is as good as it gets.”

Tell those lies to fuck off.

Replace them with truth:

  • “I’m worth it.”

  • “I am healing.”

  • “I’m strong.”

  • “I’m not giving up.”

This is how we rebuild identity.

Envision the Person You’re Becoming

Take time to imagine the version of yourself you want to grow into, from the smallest detail to the biggest.
Write it all down.
Visualize it daily.

Then align your:

  • Decisions

  • Thoughts

  • Actions

with that version of you.

It doesn’t happen overnight.
It unfolds little by little, step by step.

The Power of One Small Step

Don’t think big.
Don’t think long-term.

Shrink it down to the present moment.

One thought.
One decision.
One action.

One thing that’s the opposite of what you’ve always done.

That’s how healing starts.
That’s how transformation begins.

And it starts today.

Stay positive and take action!
