Saturday Morning Mindset: Letting Go of Perfectionism
Survivor to Thriver Coaching, LLC
Perfectionism is the voice that whispers:
“If I’m flawless, I’ll finally be enough.”
But here’s the truth: you were already enough before you even tried.
Let me be clear, you will NEVER be perfect. Not now. Not ever. And that’s actually a good thing. It means you can release the pressure, anxiety, and stress that come with chasing perfection. I know letting go of that isn’t easy, but it’s still the truth.
The real goal is progress.
On my healing journey, one of the most powerful shifts I made was learning not to compare myself to anyone else. Instead, I focused on being just a little better today than I was yesterday. That’s where growth happens.
Here’s the thing: showing up every day and putting in the work will take you further than perfectionism ever will. Small steps, done consistently, are what add up to big results.
When we aim for perfection, we set ourselves up for discouragement, frustration, and disappointment. Perfectionism makes us want to quit. But when we accept that mistakes are part of the process, we free ourselves to grow.
And yes, you will make mistakes. Probably the same mistake more than once (I know I have). And that’s okay. Mistakes are how we learn. The worst thing you can do is beat yourself up over them. Instead, get up, learn, and keep going.
So today, I want you to celebrate this truth: you will never be perfect, and that’s what makes growth possible. Strive to be a little better than yesterday. Go out, make mistakes, learn from them, and keep moving forward.
Reflection Question: Where does perfectionism show up in your life?
Action Step: Do one thing this week imperfectly, and allow yourself to celebrate finishing, no perfecting.
Stay positive and take action!
