Saturday Self-Study: Fear and Self-Doubt

They Never Go Away

Many of you may be wondering when you’ll stop being afraid or doubting yourself.

The bad news: never.

The good news: everyone experiences fear and self-doubt from the most successful people to the least successful people.

How you handle it matters most.

I spent many years of my life letting fear and self-doubt limit my success.

Luckily, I had the Navy to push me through my fear and self-doubt, but I still missed out on plenty of opportunities due to my fear and self-doubt.

The best way to deal with fear and self-doubt is to be aware of it, and take action and do something about it.

That’s it.

The hardest part is taking that first step.

Once you take that first step, it’s seldom as bad as you thought it would be.

Here’s some reflection questions for fear and self-doubt:

1) What is the root cause of your fear, and is it based on facts or assumptions?

2) How do you typically react when you experience self-doubt and what steps can you take to change that?

3) What would you do if fear and self-doubt weren’t holding you back? What could be different in your life?

4) How has fear or self-doubt stopped you from taking action in the past, and what can you learn from those experiences to move forward today?

5) When you feel self-doubt, what is a past success or strength you can remind yourself of to build confidence and push through the fear?

Stay positive and take action!
