The Warrior: Sitting in the Restlessness
Survivor to Thriver Coaching, LLC
I woke up one morning feeling lost.
No motivation. No direction.
I didn’t feel like writing, coaching, or doing anything I normally do to start the day. I scrolled social media for a bit, trying to shake the feeling, but it only made it worse. There was this restlessness inside me, that urge to do something, fix it, move.
Normally, I’d distract myself by organizing the garage, working out, or getting busy with something productive. But today, I decided to sit in it.
I didn’t like it, and that’s exactly why I stayed there.
It’s uncomfortable to just be when every part of you wants to escape. But I’ve learned that healing isn’t about running from the discomfort, it’s about learning to face it.
The Comparison Trap
As I sat there, my mind started doing what it always does, comparing.
“David Goggins wouldn’t skip a workout.”
“Cameron Hanes doesn’t take days off.”
I caught myself thinking, “Why can’t I be more consistent like them?”
But here’s the truth, I’m not them, and I’m not supposed to be.
My journey isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up more often than I don’t. That’s real consistency. Missing a day doesn’t make me a failure, it makes me human.
Doubt Creeps In
Then the doubts started to creep in about coaching.
“What if I don’t know what to say during my next session?”
“What if I’m not a good communicator?”
These thoughts are familiar. They’re fear’s way of trying to keep me safe, but they’re also lies.
The truth is, I don’t need to have it all figured out. I just need to focus on the next step, the next session, the next moment. God will provide what I need when I show up.
That’s faith in action.
The Lesson in Uncertainty
Even the best people in the world deal with uncertainty.
The difference between them and everyone else? They act anyway.
They don’t wait for fear to disappear. They say, “F** it,”* and take the next step.
That’s what I’ve committed to doing, to move forward even when doubt shows up. To learn from mistakes instead of running from them.
Because real growth happens in the space between fear and action.
Healing Isn’t a Destination
Healing isn’t about getting to some magical point where everything feels perfect.
It’s not about “closure.”
It’s not about saying, “I made it.”
Healing is a lifelong journey. You fall, you rise, you learn, and you keep going.
There’s no finish line, only the next step forward.
The Warrior Spirit
There’s a warrior in all of us.
A quiet, powerful strength that refuses to quit.
If you’ve survived trauma, if you’ve faced darkness and you’re still standing, you are a warrior.
That spirit inside you doesn’t die. It’s waiting for you to tap into it. It’s what carries you through the hard days when you feel like giving up.
Rebuilding Your Identity
This is what rebuilding your identity looks like:
You stop apologizing for who you are.
You stop people-pleasing and start setting boundaries.
You stop pretending just to fit in.
You start living on your terms, and that’s when you start to feel free.
Not everyone will understand, and that’s okay. You’ll find your people, the ones who see your strength, support your growth, and walk beside you.
But it starts with you. With healing. With tapping into that warrior spirit.
Closing Thoughts
I didn’t feel like writing this morning. I was restless and distracted. But I sat down and let it flow, and this came out.
Maybe that’s the point. Sometimes, we just need to show up and see what comes through.
If you’re reading this and feeling lost, please know, you’re not alone.
Every one of us feels that restlessness sometimes.
It’s not a sign of failure; it’s an invitation.
An invitation to pause, to reflect, and to remember the strength inside of you.
You are a warrior.
You’re stronger than you think.
Keep going, one step at a time.
Stay positive and take action!
