What If I Do Make It?

Survivor to Thriver Coaching, LLC

“What if I do make it?”
This is such a powerful question.

So often, we ask ourselves:

  • What if I don’t make it?

  • What if it doesn’t work out?

But when I sit with the question “What if I do make it?” I feel a surge of positivity move through my body. In that moment, everything feels possible, because it is.

Everything is possible once you believe it’s possible.

One of the most effective ways to create that belief is by changing the question you ask yourself. Simply shifting from “What if I fail?” to “What if I make it?” can change everything.

Opening the Door to Possibility

If you’re on your healing journey, or any journey in life, and you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, fearful, or stuck in negative emotions, I invite you to pause right now and ask yourself:

  • What if I make it?

  • What if I heal?

  • What if I succeed?

  • What if I…?

Notice what happens in your body when you ask these questions.

These questions open the door to possibility.
They open the door to hope.
They allow you to begin visualizing success instead of bracing for failure.

Why Visualization Matters (According to Research)

Visualization is not just wishful thinking, it’s a powerful, research-backed tool.

Studies show that visualization engages the brain in ways similar to real experience. When you mentally imagine actions or scenarios, many of the same neural networks activate as if you were actually doing the thing.

Research also shows that visualization:

  • Reduces stress and anxiety

  • Activates the body’s relaxation response (the parasympathetic nervous system)

  • Lowers cortisol levels

  • Slows heart rate and relieves muscle tension

  • Improves mood regulation and emotional balance

Visualization also enhances:

  • Goal achievement

  • Motivation and commitment

  • Self-efficacy (belief in your own capabilities)

  • Focus and follow-through

Additionally, mental rehearsal improves performance, supports memory and cognitive function, and helps with emotional regulation and coping.

There are so many benefits to using visualization, especially when healing from trauma.

It Starts With One Question

It all begins with one simple question:

“What if I succeed?”

What does that look like for you?

I’ll be honest, when I first started using visualization, it was difficult. It was hard to imagine what success even looked like. But like anything in life, it takes practice and repetition.

When you make visualization part of your daily routine, it becomes easier. Over time, you begin to reap its benefits.

You’re Already Capable of More Than You Think

Professional athletes use visualization every day, before games, during training, and while preparing for high-pressure situations. They visualize how they will respond, adapt, and succeed.

Now imagine what could happen if you used this same tool on your healing journey.

It all starts with one question:

What if I make it?
