Win The Morning
Here's How
The most important thing you can do every day, is win the morning.
You must start out every day by winning the morning.
I’m not talking about performing a two-hour morning routine either.
For a brief moment, I fell into this trap.
I tried doing multiple things in the morning like meditating, journaling, working out, reading, etc.
You have a lot of gurus out there that will tell you to do these 10 things in order to win the morning and get your life back on track.
Do you know what this did for me?
It left me struggling to stay awake on my 50-mile drive into work every morning.
Oh yeah, it left me struggling to stay away on my 50-mile drive home from work every afternoon.
Let’s make it clear now, no morning routine is worth getting into a car wreck on your way into work because you got up three in the morning to start it.
Now that I made that clear, let’s get on with it.
The first thing I do every morning is make sure that my mindset is right for the day.
This means, I get my mindset into a positive state before I do anything else.
What does this look like?
It’s very simple; I use my iPhone as my alarm clock in the morning.
The first thing I do every morning is reach for my phone to shut off my alarm.
Since it’s the first thing I reach for in the morning, I decided to make my home screen on my iPhone a list of things I am grateful for in my life.
Along with a short list of things I’m grateful for, I remind myself to prioritize and execute for the day.
And, I remind myself not to take today for granted.
And, I remind myself to stay positive and take action.
So, the first thing I see every morning is the list of stuff above.
This gets my mind going in the right direction.
After that, I take a minute to meditate on the things I’m grateful for and visualize having a great day.
That’s pretty much it for me.
This is how I start every day.
It doesn’t have to look this way for you.
Here are some other things you can do to ensure you start your day out in the right mindset:
1) Write down five things you’re grateful for every morning. Do this first thing before anything else.
2) Take the time to visualize how you are going to handle the challenges you may face for the day. Visualizing success is powerful.
3) Have an affirmation or two written down that you recite five times before you get out of bed. For example, “I’m in charge of my actions and choices today. I’m going to choose peace and positivity today no matter what.”
4) Meditate for five minutes first thing in the morning to quiet your mind and then write down five things you’re grateful for.
5) Have a vision of the future you’re working towards written out in detail. Every morning you wake up, read that vision to yourself and remind yourself what’s at stake if you don’t stay positive and keep taking action.
These are just a few things you can do in the morning to make sure you’re starting your day out in a positive mindset.
It doesn’t have to be difficult or take more than five or ten minutes.
The important thing is that you’re taking the time to focus on something positive before you start your day.
When your day starts going sideways, refer back to the practice of gratitude or your positive affirmation to keep you on track.
You got this!
Stay positive and take action!
